The United Kingdom is providing £85 million over 4.5 years (April 2016 to December 2020) through the Department for International Development -Nepal Health Sector Programme 3(DFID -NHSP3)to support the delivery of the Nepal Health Sector Strategy (NHSS), 2015-2020 of Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).The programme builds on the success and learning from the Nepal Health Sector Programme - 2, which ran from 2010-2015, and Health Transition and Recovery Programme which ran from July 2016 to March 2017 supporting the restoration of health services in the areas affected by the devastating earthquake in April 2015.

This programme aims to support MoHP’s efforts to provide quality health services ‘leaving no-one behind’. Improve the access, governance and quality of health care services nationwide. In particular, for women, children, the poor and socially excluded. The programme also seeks to restore health services, by supporting the retrofitting and rehabilitation of hospitals in areas affected by the 2015 earthquake and at-risk areas in order to improve their resilience to future shocks.
