Strategic Background of Health Assistant
- Health Assistants help ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care by documenting and preserving patient information, aiding with procedures, and monitoring patients for changes in condition.
Duties and Responsibilities of Health Assistant
- Responsible for documenting and keeping track of patient information such as medical history, vital signs, and test results.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, take vital signs, and monitor patients for changes in condition.
- Assist with procedures such as blood sampling, medication administration, and wound care.
- Schedule appointments, arrange transportation, and communicate with other healthcare experts to help organize patient care.
- To visit hospitals and medical clinics by taking the patients as per their medical emergencies.
- Educate patients on issues like as drug management, disease prevention, and good lifestyle choices.
- In responsible for maintaining and restocking medical equipment and supplies as needed.
- Communicate with healthcare experts including doctors and nurses to report changes in patient conditions, provide updates on patient care, and receive patient management advice.
- Monitor patients' condition, provide assistance as needed, and report any concerns to healthcare experts to ensure that they are safe and comfortable during their care.
- Must follow healthcare legislation and standards relating to patient care, privacy, and safety.
Education, professional experience, technical skills - A high school diploma or equivalent is required to work as a Health Assistant.
- Preferable to have completed a certification program in medical assisting or a similar discipline.
- One (1) year of working experience in a healthcare and working with patients and providing basic medical care is desirable.
- Medical terminology, anatomy knowledge and capable of taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature is required.
- Knowledge of medical devices such as glucose monitors, nebulizers etc.
- Capability to perform basic medical operations such as clothing changes and medication administration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to engage effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare workers.
- Basic computer skills are required for managing electronic health information and scheduling appointments.
